HORAL presents the Oude Geuze Megablend 2022 on the occasion of its 25th anniversary
The Toer de Geuze weekend will be kicked off on Friday evening
This Saturday and Sunday, all members of the High Council for Artisan Lambic Beers (HORAL) will open their doors to the public. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the brewers' association and the 14th Toer de Geuze, the HORAL members have created a special oude geuze: the HORAL Megablend 2022. It is the 8th Megablend in a row. All 11 HORAL members have contributed by delivering an amount of lambic.
Normally a Megablend is only assembled every two years. The first dates from 2009. Because the organisation was founded a quarter of a century ago, the members wanted to make an oude geuze together again. The HORAL Megablend 2022 is a mixture of young and old lambic from no fewer than 11 producers: Boon, De Oude Cam, De Troch, Den Herberg, Hanssens, Lambiek Fabriek, Lindemans, Mort Subite, Oud Beersel, Tilquin and Timmermans.
29,300 bottles were filled. The outside was printed with a festive tricolor design. On the front are the HORAL logo, the names of all manufacturers, the date 1997-2022, a flag with the number 25 and the European Traditional Speciality Guaranteedlabel.
Participants in the Toer de Geuze will already be able to taste the Megablend 2022 at all participating breweries and blenderies. From Monday the bottles will also be available at the specialised beer shops.
The Lambic Round Table
On the eve of the Toer de Geuze, HORAL and VisitFlanders are organising a round table discussion, which will be streamed online. HORAL chairman Gert Christiaens, honorary chairman Frank Boon, Kloris Devillé of Den Herberg and Stu Stuart, an organiser of beer tours, will exchange ideas about the lambic culture in the Pajottenland and the Senne valley. Beer journalist Breandán Kearney will moderate the conversation. The online event will take place in English.

The High Council for Artisan Lambic Beers (HORAL) was founded in 1997. The association unites the majority of the lambic breweries and gueuze blenderies of Flemish and Walloon Brabant and has 11 members: Boon, De Oude Cam, De Troch, Den Herberg, Hanssens, Lambiek Fabriek, Lindemans, Mort Subite, Oud Beersel, Tilquin and Timmermans. HORAL promotes craft lambic beers, in particular Oude Geuze and Oude Kriek. The non-profit organisation also takes initiatives to protect these beers. HORAL organised the first Toer de Geuze in 1997. Since 2017 it has become a weekend event. Each edition attracts thousands of visitors. The Toer de Geuze is therefore by far the largest beer event in the province of Flemish Brabant.
