Two gold medals for Lindemans at the final round of the World Beer Awards 2023
Newest Lindemans Tarot Noir proclaimed ‘World’s Best Fruit Lambic’
In the category ‘Sour & Wild Beers’, Lindemans Tarot Noir 8% and Lindemans Oude Gueuze Cuvée René were proclaimed world’s best in the ‘Fruit Lambic’ and ‘Gueuze’ classifications. This was announced Thursday evening at the final round of the World Beer Awards 2023 in London. The prestigious contest brings together the best brews from all corners of the globe, and crowns the very best the winner. Earlier this month, the Country Winners were announced. Both beers were awarded a gold medal for Belgium in this round.
Another gold for the newcomer
Lindemans Tarot Noir - Forest fruit (ABV: 8%) was launched earlier this year and immediately acclaimed best ‘Fruit Lambic’ in the category Sour & Wild Beers. Last month, the deep ruby red Tarot Noir and its golden blonde counterpart Tarot d’Or were awarded the gold and bronze medals in the same category, while Lindemans Goyck was also conferred a bronze in the ‘Sour & Wild Ale’ category.
Lindemans Tarot Noir is a harmonious blend of top-fermented beer and lambic beer, flavoured with dark forest fruits such as blackberries, blackcurrants and elderberries and contains a low sugar content. This deep, ruby red high-alcohol fruit beer has a natural, full-bodied taste, a refined touch of acidity and a surprisingly mellow yet refreshing finish. Its delicious, fruity aromas and well-balanced yet slightly complex flavours make this beer thoroughly enjoyable.
Lindemans Oude Gueuze Cuvée René (ABV: 6%) also won several awards this year. Conferred the title ‘World’s Best Style Winner’ last year, it was also proclaimed ‘Country Winner’ for Belgium earlier this month as the ‘Best Gueuze’ in the Sour & Wild Beers category. Today, this traditional old gueuze can once again call itself the ‘World’s Best’ in its category. In this magnificent brew, three-year-old lambic beer is blended masterfully with one-year-old lambic for a truly outstanding result. Oude Gueuze Cuvée René has a clear, light golden body, a sophisticated aroma, a refreshing, slightly sour flavour and a dry and distinctive finish that lingers on the palate. Without a single doubt, this is the gueuze of choice for lovers of fine beer.
Innovation and tradition in perfect harmony
“We are overjoyed that our first top-fermented beers, brewed at our satellite production site in Ruisbroek, have been awarded this distinction. The fact that our Lindemans Oude Gueuze Cuvée René has once again been conferred this renowned award underscores its reputation as an established name and a genuine legend in the world of beer. This is a fantastic reward for the hard work done by our entire team. Both awards prove that tradition and innovation really can come together in perfect harmony. We at Lindemans are filled with pride and resolve to keep surprising you with innovative and flavoursome experiences, now and in the future.” - Dirk and Geert Lindemans.
Award-winning Lindemans Tarot beers are widely available in Belgium and in some export markets. Oude Gueuze Cuvée René can be purchased at specialised off-licenses and supermarkets. Both can also be procured from the brewery’s online shop (lindemansshop.com).
